Every now and again we get an absolute gem of a find while photographing a wedding. Graham and I had been booked to shoot a same sex marriage at Hulme Hall in Port Sunlight on the Wirral. We turned up at the venue early, as always, to shoot the wedding details before the hustle and bustle of the day begins. We were blown away at the attention to detail that had gone into the day. It turns out Dan owns his own bespoke crafts business in Birkenhead and had hand made every last wedding detail him self.
I arrived at his house a short while after to photograph him and his family getting ready – I immediately blurted out “who did all the wedding details, their AMAZING!”. He smiled and coyly said it was him, explained about his business and said he was still laser cutting the seat placements at midnight. Well his hard work paid off, everything thing looked fantastic and I’m sure the wedding guests really appreciated it, I know Graham and I did, as wedding photographers love this kind of stuff.
There were was a definite theme going on at this wedding which became immediately apparent when we walked into the reception hall:
Dan is what can only be described as a huge geek like me, we spent a good portion of his groom prep photos talking about Xbox and which new games we wanted to play. All the place holders and seating plans where Starwars themed, each with a silhouette of a Starwars character. Each table was named after a location from the films, and Joe as a surprise, arranged for the harpist to play the Starwars theme tune as they walked down the aisle. I think it was all truly topped off by Dans Darth Vader cufflinks.
