Wow wow wow what a venue. I’d always wanted a sneak peak inside Liverpool town hall so I was made up when we were booked to shoot a wedding inside. It didn’t disappoint, the building is like a palace inside and the perfect location for a wedding. We were really surprised when we found out they don’t get many bookings, it might be the last hidden gem of a venue in the city.
On the left here you can see some of the shots I managed to grab of Mike before the ceremony. He was really trying to keep his nerves in check so I did my best to distract him by asking for some model poses.
Danni and Mike had chosen to host the whole event in the town hall including the wedding breakfast by bringing in in outside caterers. They had full use of the building – the ceremony was held in the small ballroom, followed by drinks on the balcony (which over looks the city). The staff did a quick turn around while we were out shooting the alone time photos and converted the small ballroom ready for the wedding breakfast. The alone time shoot was great – plenty of cosy locations inside the building for natural coupley type photos, we also took a stroll around the town hall to capture some of the great locations.
The bride and groom had a particular request to have the liver buildings in one of the photos. So we walked down to Saint Nicholas church, the gardens there have a really good view of the liver birds. Little did we know that there was an actual wedding on inside. Just as we started shooting the vicar ran out and said “you have two minutes to get the photos done before the ACTUAL wedding comes out”. Hehe we took a few more photos and skipped away red faced and giggling. The speeches were unique as they were held in the council chambers and incredibly ornate room with the bride and groom sitting in the Mayors chair.
